Gasparilla & Beyond: Your Guide to Tampa Events This Week (Jan 27 - Feb 1, 2026)

Gasparilla & Beyond!

If you've been waiting for the perfect week to get out and enjoy everything Tampa has to offer, this is it. We're talking pirates, paddleboards, live music, art, and enough outdoor activities to keep you busy from sunrise to sunset.
Whether you're a Tampa local looking for something new or you're flying in for the legendary Gasparilla Pirate Fest, we've got the rundown on  everything happening in the Bay area from January 27 through February 1, 2026.
Let's dive in.

The Main Event: Gasparilla Pirate Fest (Saturday, January 31)
You already know what time it is. Gasparilla is the Tampa event of the year, and this Saturday, January 31, 2026, the pirates officially invade our city once again (and yes, the energy carries the whole week right through Sunday, February 1).

What to Expect (Big Finale: Saturday, Jan 31, 2026)

  • Invasion — 11:30 AM: The Jose Gasparilla pirate ship sails in as the krewe arrives in full force to “take over” Tampa. It’s a Tampa tradition dating back over 100 years, and honestly, it never gets old watching that massive ship roll in with cannons blazing (blanks, of course).
  • Parade of Pirates — 2:00 PM – 5:30 PM (along Bayshore Blvd): The can’t-miss main event. Expect elaborate floats, krewes tossing beads, marching bands, and thousands of people lining Bayshore in their best pirate gear. If you’ve never experienced it, imagine Mardi Gras energy with a distinctly Tampa twist.
  • Live entertainment in Curtis Hixon Park: When you’re ready for a break from the parade route, head to Curtis Hixon Park for live entertainment, plus plenty of festival energy nearby.

Pro Tips for Gasparilla 2026

  • Arrive early. Like, really early. Bayshore fills up fast, and if you want a prime parade viewing spot, plan to stake your claim by mid-morning.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. You're going to walk a lot. Trust us.
  • Stay hydrated. January in Tampa can still be warm, and you'll be outside for hours.
  • Use rideshare or public transit. Parking is a nightmare. Save yourself the headache.

Tuesday, January 27: Art, Wellness, and Waterfront Vibes

If you're looking for a more chill way to start your week, Tuesday has some fantastic options.

Art on the Spectrum at Tampa Museum of Art

The Tampa Museum of Art is hosting Art on the Spectrum, a sensory-friendly event designed to make art accessible for everyone. It's a great opportunity to explore the museum's collections in a relaxed, welcoming environment. Whether you're bringing the family or just want a quieter museum experience, this one's worth checking out.

Pilates in the Park

Need to stretch out those muscles before the weekend madness? Pilates in the Park is happening Tuesday morning and it's the perfect way to start your day. Fresh air, good vibes, and a workout that won't leave you completely destroyed. Find your zen before Gasparilla takes over.

Full Moon Paddle with Urban Kai

Here's something you don't get to do every day. Urban Kai is hosting a Full Moon Paddle on Tuesday evening. Grab a paddleboard or kayak and cruise along Tampa's waterways under the glow of the full moon. It's peaceful, it's beautiful, and it's one of those uniquely Tampa experiences that reminds you why living here is pretty awesome.

Downtown Walking Tour

Want to learn more about Tampa's history and architecture? A Downtown Walking Tour is happening Tuesday as well. It's a great way to see parts of the city you might have walked past a hundred times without really noticing. Plus, you'll pick up some fun facts to impress your friends with at Gasparilla.

Wednesday, January 28: Rock the Park

Mid-week calls for some live music, and Rock the Park delivers. This outdoor concert series brings local and regional bands to Tampa's parks for a free, family-friendly evening of good tunes and good company.

Pack a blanket, grab some takeout, and settle in for a relaxing night under the stars. It's the perfect way to recharge before the Gasparilla craziness kicks in.

Thursday, January 29: Bolts Night at Amalie Arena (7:00 PM)

If you want to swap pirate hats for jerseys (at least for one night), Thursday is all about hockey: Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Pittsburgh Penguins at Amalie Arena with a 7:00 PM puck drop.

Downtown will have that classic game-night feel—pregame bites, busy streets, and plenty of energy around Channelside. If you’re hosting out-of-town guests this week, this is an easy, very “Tampa” night out before the weekend takeover.

Friday, January 30: Pre-Invasion Buzz (Downtown + Riverwalk)

Friday is the warm-up lap before the big finale on Saturday. Expect a Pre-Invasion Buzz downtown—live music starting along the Riverwalk, more pirate outfits by the hour, and groups gathering at Curtis Hixon Park to get in the spirit (and lock in the game plan for parade day).

If you’re not trying to do an all-day Bayshore stakeout on Saturday, Friday night is a great way to still catch the vibe, grab food and drinks downtown, and feel that “Gasparilla weekend is here” energy.

Get Out There, Tampa

Whether you're dodging beads on Bayshore, paddling under the moonlight, or just enjoying a quiet museum visit, this week has something for everyone. Tampa knows how to throw a party, but it also knows how to offer those quieter moments that make living here feel like a permanent vacation.

So grab your pirate hat, lace up your walking shoes, and get out there. We'll see you around town.

If you own rental property anywhere near downtown Tampa, mark your calendar for February 20-22, 2026 . The Tampa Bay Comic Convention is coming back to the Tampa Convention Center, and if you're not already thinking about how to capitalize on this weekend, you're leaving serious money on the table. This isn't just another small-scale event. Tampa Bay Comic Con has become one of the largest pop culture conventions in the entire Southeast: second only to MegaCon in Florida. We're talking thousands of fans descending on downtown Tampa for three days of celebrity meet-and-greets, cosplay competitions, gaming tournaments, and enough collectibles to fill a Batcave. And here's the thing: every single one of those attendees needs a place to stay. Why Comic Con Weekend Is a Goldmine for Short-Term Rentals Convention weekends are different from your typical tourist season. While beachgoers trickle in throughout the week, convention attendees arrive en masse: usually Thursday evening or Friday morning: and they're all looking for accommodations within a short distance of the venue.

February in Tampa means one thing for families across the Bay Area: it's State Fair time! The 2026 Florida State Fair is rolling into town from February 5-16 , and honestly, it's one of those events that just screams "Florida living at its finest." Whether you're a lifelong Tampanian or you just moved here last month, this is the kind of experience that makes you fall in love with this region all over again. From the smell of funnel cakes wafting through the air to the excited screams coming from the midway, the Florida State Fair has been a beloved tradition for generations. And this year? It's going to be even more special with celebrations marking America's 250th anniversary woven throughout the grounds. Let's break down everything you need to know to make the most of your fair experience this year. What Makes the Florida State Fair So Special? The Florida State Fair isn't just another carnival that pops up in a parking lot somewhere. This is an 11-day celebration of everything that makes Florida unique, our agriculture, our communities, our food (oh, the food!), and our love of a good time. Held at the Florida State Fairgrounds at 4800 U.S. Highway 301 North in Tampa, the fair draws hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. It's where city folks get a taste of rural Florida life, where kids see farm animals up close for the first time, and where adults get to be kids again on rides that spin them silly.
